After I read "War and Peace" almost non-stop as a teenager, I wanted to write an Engluish equvalent. My studies at university encouraged me to use the English Civil War and the subsequent Commonwealth, Protectorate and Restoration. But I couldn't get past the details. It was only after I had read "Lord of the Rings" that I realised that I could create my own world. So "Through Fire" began......

and was finally completed in 2006 after I had taken early retirement.

After many attempts to get an agent or a publisher interested, I gave up and self-published.

Though I continued to write follow up books, my attention was diverted into writing detective stories, mostly set in HM Customs & Excise, where I spent most of my career.

However, I saw an online link about saga novels and decided I'd have another go at finding an agent/publisher. I was lucky to be taken up by MERLINUS PUBLISHING who will be publishing the first volume in October.

"Through Fire" is my life's work. Not just a story of conflict and love, but of how to live an honourable life, constantly learning (from wise people, ordinary people, from mistakes and bad actions). where "walking through fire" may be the only honorable course.
